On 24/12/2018, Water & Electricity Company (WEC) announced that, it has appointed The consortium comprising Marubeni Corporation, Abdul Latif Jameel Commercial Development Company, Acciona Agua SA and Rawafid Alhadarah Holding Company as the Preferred Bidder for the development, design, financing, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance of the Shuqaiq 3 desalination plant of 450,000 m3/day and the development, design, financing, construction, commissioning and transfer of the associated Electrical Special Facilities (the “Shuqaiq 3 IWP Project”).
The Shuqaiq-3 IWP Plant will be located in the city of Shuqaiq, on the Red Sea Coast, approximately 137 km north of Jazan, Southern region of Saudi Arabia. The Plant is designed using Reverse Osmosis seawater desalination technology to produce the potable water.
WEC is being advised by:
- Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (DIFC Branch) as Lead and Financial Adviser
- DLA Piper Saudi Arabia as Legal Adviser; and
- ILF-Tecon & Partners Engineering PSC as Technical Adviser.
