Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC), formerly known as Water & Electricity Company (WEC) receives the bidders proposal for Yanubu-4 Independent Water Project (IWP).
The plant will be designed using Reverse Osmosis seawater desalination technology. The expected capacity of desalination plant is 450,000 m3/day.
The desalination plant will be located near the town of Ar Rayyis (140 km west of Madina), Yanbu region, on the Red Sea coast of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
A total of six bidder consortia has submitted the proposals.
- Veolia Middle East, Alkhorayef Group Company, Al Bawani Water & Power Company
- UTICO
- ACWA Power, Gulf Investment Corporation G.S.C, Al-Babtian Contracting Company
- FCC Aqualia, Haji Abdullah Alireza & Co Ltd, Alfanar Company
- Marubeni, Marafiq
- Engie, Mowah Company
Upon technical-commercial evaluation, SWPC will announce the bidders submitted prices.
WEC is being advised by:
- Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation DIFC Branch as Lead and Financial Adviser;
- DLA Piper Middle East LLP as Legal Adviser; and
- ILF Consulting Engineers as Technical Adviser.

SWPC already awarded the Rabigh-3 IWP having plant capacity of 600,000 Cu.m per day to ACWA Power Consortium and Shuqaiq-3 IWP having plant capacity of 450,000 Cu.m per day to Marubeni Consortium.
