Saudi Arabia’s REPDO receives the bidder’s proposal for 1.4GW Solar PV Projects

The Renewable Energy Project Development Office (REPDO) of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources (MEIM) has receives the bidder’s proposals for category B Solar PV Projects on 20 January 2020.

The Category ‘B’ projects consist of four projects of Total Capacity 1.4GW,  namely Jeddah Solar PV IPP, Rabigh Solar PV IPP, Qurayyat Solar PV IPP and Fais Solar PV IPP.

  1. Al Faisaliah Solar PV IPP with a capacity of 600 MW to be located in the Makkah Province, approximately 80 km south of Jeddah city
  2. Jeddah Solar PV IPP with a capacity of 300 MW to be located in the Makkah Province and approximately 50 km south-east of Jeddah city
  3. Rabigh Solar PV IPP with a capacity of 300 MW to be located in the Makkah Province, approximately 145 km north of Jeddah city
  4. Qurayyat Solar PV IPP with a capacity of 200 MW to be located in the Al Jawf Province, approximately 15 km away from Qurayyat city

A total of Four Consortia has submitted the proposals:

Saudi Arabia’s REPDO is being advised by Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (DIFC Branch) – Lead and Financial Adviser, DLA Piper Middle East LLP – Legal Adviser and Fichtner GmbH & Co. KG– Technical Adviser for this project.

REPDO Category A’ Solar PV projects consist of two projects, namely Madinah Solar PV IPP and Rafah Solar PV IPP of total capacity 70MW is due for submission on 03 February 2020.

REPDO recently, launched Round 3 of renewable energy program. It will comprises of four Solar PV projects with a combined generation capacity of 1,200 MW.
