Kuwait receives the lowest bid of $1.2 billion for North Kuwait Remediation project

Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) announces the bid results for “North Kuwait Excavation Transportation and Remediation” project.

Twelve bidders summited the proposals. The Kuwait Company for Process Plant Construction & Contracting K.P.S.C. (KCPC) has submitted the lowest bid.

KCPC has submitted the combined price for Zone 1 and Zone 2 as KWD 377,000,000 (USD 1,232,726,293).

North Kuwait Excavation Transportation and Remediation Project

As part of the Kuwait Environmental Remediation Program (KERP), the North Kuwait Excavation Transportation and Remediation (NKETR) Project addresses oil contaminated soil located in the Raudhatain and Sabriya oil fields of Kuwait.

The Project Objectives are to establish KERP source feature quantities and contamination levels, perform excavation and transportation to designated areas, remediation of contaminated soils, and waste disposal/landfilling of non-treatable waste and by-products.

The Contractor’s scope of work includes the following:

  • Contractual Preliminaries, HSE Studies, General Preliminaries, Work Related Preliminaries, Temporary Works & Enabling Works includes High Resolution Satellite Imagery – Preliminary Works, UXO Project Final Reports including Project GIS Database, Ground-truthing & Pre-Topographic Surveys, UXO Battle Area Clearance, Soil Characterization & Treatment Areas/Pads Construction.
  • Preliminaries Works includes General Preliminaries and Work Related Preliminaries, Enabling Works includes Air Quality Characterization, Survey of Utilities, Post-Topographic Surveys, Baseline Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORM) Survey, Groundwater Characterization, Monitoring Well & Piezometer Installations, Groundwater, Surface Water & Leachate Sampling, Analysis, Monitoring, Data Management & Piezometer and General Works includes Access Road & Crash Barriers, NORMS, Identified Asbestos and Hazardous Wastes Materials and Soil Sample Collection, Analysis & Data Management
  • Compliance Soil Sample Monitoring, Materials Designated for Remediation or Stockpiling (DOL + WOL), Materials Designated for Remediation or Stockpiling (OCP), Untreated Contaminated Dry Materials Mixing with Oil Sludge, Waste Management – Construction Debris Materials, Transportation and Placement of Treated Soils
  • Sample Analysis & Data Management, Remediation Works, (Remediation Works for Contaminated Soils with > 1% to ≤ 5% TPH Level).
  • Design of Expansion Landfill as per 600,000m³ capacity, Construction of Extension Landfill,  Infilling for Landfill extension capacity and Supply & Install Capping & commissioning for Landfill extension capacity as per approved design
