Kuwait signed $1billion contracts to remediate contaminated soil

Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) announced in a statement that it has signed five contracts to treat the soil polluted by crude oil during the Iraqi occupational in the northern and southern areas of the country.

The five contracts aim to treat about 13 million cubic meters of the oil contaminated soil. These contracts come within the Kuwait Environmental Rehabilitation Program (KERP), the largest environmental treatment project in the world.

The Projects has been awarded to following companies:

North Kuwait:

  • Zone 1 of North Kuwait Excavation Transportation and Remediation project has been awarded to the JV of Khaled Ali Al Kharafiand Brothers for Construction Contracting and Lamor Corporation. The value of the contract is $193.58 million.
  • Zone 2 of North Kuwait Excavation Transportation and Remediation project has been awarded to The Kuwait Company for Process Plant Construction & Contracting K.P.S.C. (KCPC). The value of the contract is $188 million (read more)

  • Zone 1 of South Kuwait Excavation Transportation and Remediation project has been awarded to JV of Khaled Ali Al Kharafi and Brothers for Construction Contracting and Lamor Corporation. The value of the contract is $196.53 million.
  • Zone 2 of South Kuwait Excavation Transportation and Remediation project has been awarded to JV of Heavy Engineering Industries and Shipbuilding Company (HEISCO) and Hangzhou Zaopinst Co., Ltd. The value of the contract is $185.2m (read more)
