SEC, Hitachi Energy signs MOU for HVDC Projects

Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) announced in a statement that, under the supervision of the Ministry of Energy, Saudi Electricity Company and Hitachi Energy signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU).

The MOU is to develop ultra-high voltage DC (HVDC) technologies and use international standards and specifications in new projects in the Kingdom.

At Present, Hitachi Energy executing following HVDC Projects in Saudi Arabia:

  • World’s first 3 GW, 525 kilovolt (kV) HVDC Light® transmission system connecting Oxagon, NEOM’s regional development, with the larger Yanbu area more than 650 kilometers away in Western Saudi Arabia. (read more)
  • Upgrade the Al-Fadhili high-voltage direct current (HVDC) converter station under the GCCIA authority (read more)
