BYD Energy Storage announces Shipping of 12.5GWh Grid-Scale BESS to Saudi Arabia

BYD Energy Storage, China announces that it has begins shipping the world’s largest 12.5GWh grid-scale BESS to Saudi Arabia.

The company stated that on April 27th, 120 MC Cube-T BESS cabinets set sail from the Beibu Gulf Port in Guangxi, China. As the vanguard of the 12.5GWh project—the world’s largest grid-scale energy storage deployment (2364 system cabinets in total)—these systems have embarked on their transoceanic journey to Saudi Arabia, supporting the nation’s green energy transition.

MC Cube-T’s modular design facilitates the logistic process, while BYD Energy Storage’s vertically integrated supply chain and full lifecycle management system ensures rapid production-to-delivery execution—setting new industry benchmarks for speed and scale, the company stated.

Earlier, during January 2025, BYD Energy Storage signs the contract with the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), for the Design, supply, Supervision of Installation, testing & commissioning and maintenance of Battery System.
