
Nama Power & Water Procurement Company (PWP), Oman announces the list of qualified applicants for the development of Misfah IPP in Willayat Bousher in Muscat Governorate and Duqm IPP in Willayat Duqm in Al Wusta Governorate.
The Misfah IPP Project will have a generation capacity of 1600 MW. The estimated cost of the Project is OMR 590 million. The Duqm IPP Project will have a generation capacity of 800MW. The estimated cost of the Project is OMR 290 million. The commercial operation of the projects is expected to be in Q2 2029.
Following is the list of Qualified Applicants:
- ACWA Power Company
- Korea Western Power Co. Ltd.,
- Marubeni Corporation
- Nebras Power
- Sembcorp Utilities Pte Ltd.,
- Shenzhen Energy Group
- Sumitomo Corporation
As per the notification, in line with the company’s ongoing commitment on ensuring the reliable and sustainable energy future and ensuring grid security for sultanate of Oman through a balanced mix of energy sources, PWP is planning to develop two combined cycle gas turbines power plants with a total capacity of 2,400 MW.
The Project will be developed in partnership with the Private sector. The Proposed location of the Power Plants will be in Misfah and Duqm.
Earlier, during December 2024, PWP issues the Expression of interest for two independent power projects (IPPs) on a build, own and operate basis connected to the main interconnected system (MIS). (read more)
