Qatar invites Bids for 400kV Substation and its Connection for 2 GW Dukhan Solar Project

Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) invites Bids for the Power Evacuation From Dukhan Solar Project.

The Project is an EPC Contract for establishment of new 400/220/132kV Substation and upgrade / modifications of the existing substations Overhead Lines (OHL) and cables of 400kV, 220kV 132kV.

The project is divided into several packages as described below:

  • Substations Package S1: New 400/220/132kV Substation.
  • Package S2 & S3: upgrade of existing 400kV and 220kV substations and modifications in several substations.
  • Cables Package C1: 220kV Cables.
  • Overhead Lines Package OHL1: 400kV
  • Package  OHL2: 400kV
  • Package OHL3: 220kV
  • Package OHL4: 132kV

Kahramaa sets the bid submission date as 21 August 2025.

Earlier during September 2024, Qatar announces to build solar power plant in Dukhan area, with a production capacity of 2,000 megawatts. (read more)

With the addition of the new Dukhan Solar Power Plant, QatarEnergy’s portfolio of solar power projects in Qatar will reach a capacity of about 4,000 megawatts by the year 2030. This represents approximately 30% of Qatar’s total electrical power production capacity.
