Taihan Cable & Solution, South Korea has reaffirmed its position in the Middle Eastern power infrastructure market by winning consecutive ultra-high voltage (UHV) transmission line projects in Qatar.
The company announced that it received a notice of award from Qatar’s state-owned utility, Kahramaa, for a large-scale UHV power grid construction project. This project aims to expand Qatar’s transmission network to reliably deliver electricity generated at a large-scale desalination combined cycle power plant across the country.
The contract is valued at approximately 180 billion KRW (about $150 million). Taihan Cable & Solution will undertake a turnkey approach, handling all stages from design, manufacturing, installation, connections, to testing, for 400kV and 220kV UHV power lines.
Earlier, on August 21, Taihan Cable & Solution secured another project valued at around 40 billion KRW (approximately $33 million) to build a 220kV power transmission network. This project also follows a turnkey model to meet Qatar’s rising electricity demand.
