Bahrain invites Bids for 100MW BAJ Solar IPP Project

The Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) of the Kingdom of Bahrain announces that it intends to issue an international tender for the development of the Bilaj Al Jazayer Independent Power Project (BAJ Solar IPP), a utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) facility .

The estimated capacity of the Solar Farm is at least 100 MWac. The Project to be developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) on a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) basis.

The Plant will deploy proven PV technology modules supported by utility-grade inverters suitable for local conditions. The scope includes generation facilities and associated infrastructure such as access and internal roads.

The selected bidder will be responsible for the full lifecycle of the Project for 25 years, including development, financing, construction, operation, maintenance, decommissioning, and site restoration.

The Project supports Bahrain’s national target of achieving 20% renewable energy by 2035.
