CEPCO Successfully Completes High-Voltage Testing of One of Riyadh’s Longest 380 kV Underground Cable Projects

Civil & Electrical Projects Contracting Co. (CEPCO) has proudly announced the successful completion of high-voltage (HV) testing on 22 January 2026, for one of the longest 380 kV underground cable projects in Riyadh City.

The project comprises four (04) circuits, including two (02) circuits of 29 km each and two (02) circuits of 31 km each, representing a significant achievement in extra-high-voltage (EHV) infrastructure in terms of scale, complexity, and technical excellence.

The HV test was successfully carried out and subsequently followed by Partial Discharge (PD) testing to verify the integrity and long-term reliability of the cable insulation system. The testing setup was composed of parallel high-voltage reactors, each rated at 260 kV / 80 A, enabling stable voltage application and precise control over test conditions for these long EHV cable circuits.

This accomplishment reflects CEPCO’s high level of expertise in executing large-scale power projects across the GCC region under the leadership of Eng. Mohammed Al Azem, Chairman, and Eng. Tarek Al Husayni, CEO. The application of advanced testing methodologies, combined with a strong commitment to quality and safety, further strengthens CEPCO’s position as a trusted partner for major power infrastructure developments.

CEPCO remains dedicated to its founders’ vision— Eng. Mohammed Zuhair Al Azem and Dr. Nour Al Husayni —of “becoming the leading partner in developing energy and water infrastructure in the Middle East, renowned for excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction.” In alignment with Saudi Vision 2030, CEPCO continues to enable resilient, future-ready power networks that support the Kingdom’s long-term energy ambitions.
