Kuwait Signs $119 Million 400kV Underground Cable Projects

The Public Authority for Housing Welfare, Kuwait announced the signing of two new contracts for the supply, installation, extension, and maintenance of underground cables to feed four main power substations in South Sabah Al-Ahmad Residential City, using 400 kV cables.

The combined value of the contracts is KWD 36.5 Million.

The first contract is signed with TBEA SHANDONG LUNENG TAISHAN CABLE CO.LTD. The value of the contract is KWD 17.8 million. The Project scope of work includes Supply, extension, and maintenance of 400 kV underground cables for supplying the two main 400 kV substations (1Z and 4Z) in the South Sabah Al-Ahmad residential project. The duration of the contract is 26 months.

The second contract signed with EGYTEK Cables LLC. The value of the contract is KWD 18.6 million. The Project scope of work includes Supply, extension, and maintenance of 400 kV underground cables for supplying the two main 400 kV substations (2Z, 3Z) in the South Sabah Al-Ahmad residential project. The duration of the contract is 26 months.

This initiative falls within the framework of the state’s plan to secure electrical infrastructure for new cities, ensuring sustainability and reliability of essential services within the city. These contracts and projects represent a foundational and strategic phase within the state’s plan to secure electrical infrastructure for new cities. This will ensure a safe, sustainable power network alongside roads and essential services, in line with the country’s vision for building modern cities capable of supporting urban, economic development and meeting residents’ future needs, statement mentioned.
