Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has announced the invitation of bids for Consultancy Services related to its landmark Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project, marking a significant milestone in the country’s power and water infrastructure development.
This initiative represents Kahramaa’s first major utility-scale BESS project and reflects its commitment to enhancing grid reliability, energy efficiency, and sustainability in line with Qatar’s long-term energy strategy.
The scope of work covers the provision of comprehensive technical, legal, and financial consultancy services. The appointed consultant will be responsible for preparing detailed technical specifications, developing project agreements, and supporting Kahramaa in finalizing the commercial and financial terms of the project. These services are expected to play a critical role in structuring the project to international standards, ensuring bankability, and attracting strong investor and developer interest.
The BESS project is anticipated to support grid stability, facilitate the integration of renewable energy, and improve overall system flexibility, contributing to a more resilient and future-ready power network in Qatar.
Kahramaa has set the bid submission deadline for 15 February 2026, and interested consultancy firms with relevant experience in large-scale energy storage projects are encouraged to participate.
