Saudi Arabia Railways and Siemens Sign MoU to Advance Local Content and Railway Digitalization

Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Siemens Mobility Saudi Arabia to strengthen cooperation in the localization and development of advanced communication systems for railway infrastructure across the Kingdom. The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the PIF Private Sector Forum, held in Riyadh on 9–10 February 2026, reflecting SAR’s continued commitment to empowering local content and enhancing the national railway ecosystem.

The agreement aims to support the development of innovative engineering solutions that serve railway infrastructure while enhancing operational readiness and efficiency. It also focuses on exchanging technical and engineering expertise between the two parties, contributing to capacity building and knowledge transfer within the Kingdom.

In addition, the collaboration seeks to strengthen supply chain sustainability by encouraging local participation and supporting domestic industries aligned with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 objectives. By leveraging Siemens’ global expertise and SAR’s strategic role in the Kingdom’s transport sector, the partnership is expected to accelerate the adoption of advanced technologies and digital solutions across railway operations.

This MoU underscores SAR’s strategic efforts to foster strong partnerships with global technology leaders, promote localization, and deliver reliable, future-ready rail services that support economic growth and national development goals.
