Electricity and Water Authority (EWA), Bahrain receives the bids for 400kV and 220kV Feeder Cable Works for Establishment of New Sitra 400kV Grid Substations.
Three bidders has submitted the proposals:
- ILJIN ELECTRIC – BHD 35,004,118.330
- TAIHAN ELECTRIC WIRE CO LTD – BHD 45,648,300.000 (option 1) and BHD 47,022,441.000 (Opt. 2)
- LS CABLE AND SYSTEM LTD – BHD 46,659,985.550
EWA has launched a project to establish a new 400kV Grid Substation at Sitra. The main purpose of this project is to facilitate the integration of the new power station and ensure interconnection with the existing 400kV and 220kV networks.
This will be achieved through a major initiative titled “Establishment of New 400kV Grid Substation & Subsystem.” One of the key work packages under this project is the 400kV and 220kV Feeder Cable Works, which will be executed through an international limited tender. The scope of this tender includes: Design, Manufacturing, Supply, Transportation, Installation, Testing, and Commissioning of 400kV and 220kV feeder cables.

In another tender, EWA receives bids for Transformer and Reactor Works for New Sitra 400kV Grid Substations.
Two Bidders has submitted the proposals:
- Hitachi Energy Technologies W.L.L – BHD 17,767,114.560
- SIEMENS ENERGY LLC – BHD 23,871,690.064
The scope of this tender includes Design, manufacturing, supply, transportation, erection, testing and commissioning of three 400kV, 500MVA power transformers and reactors.
