Nama Power and Water Procurement Company (PWP) has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) seeking techno-economic consultancy services to support the development of a green hydrogen-based power generation project in the Sultanate of Oman.
PWP, the entity responsible for procuring new power and water capacity in Oman, plans to appoint a qualified consultant to carry out an initial assessment for a new Independent Power Project (IPP). The proposed facility is expected to be capable of operating on up to 100% hydrogen, with an indicative generation capacity ranging between 800 MW and 1,000 MW.
This initiative aligns with Oman’s broader strategy to diversify its energy mix and accelerate the transition toward cleaner and more sustainable energy sources.
According to the tender details, the consultancy will focus on evaluating the technical and economic feasibility of the hydrogen-powered plant, supporting early-stage development and decision-making.
Proposals must be submitted no later than June 21, 2026, at 12:00 PM (Oman time). As part of the submission requirements, bidders are required to provide a tender bond or a bank-certified cheque amounting to at least 1% of the tender value, valid for 120 days from the submission deadline.
PWP noted that the project represents a significant step toward integrating hydrogen into the country’s power generation portfolio, reinforcing Oman’s ambitions to become a regional leader in green hydrogen production and utilization.
