Nama Power and Water Procurement Company (PWP), Oman has announced the launch of a Request for Proposal (RFP) seeking technical consultancy services for the development of new gas-fired Independent Power Projects (IPPs) in the Sultanate of Oman.
The tender, issued under reference number OPWP/2026/17, aims to appoint a qualified and experienced consultant to act as technical advisor for the planned projects. According to the tender notice, the anticipated technology for the new developments will be combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plants with a total generation capacity of up to 2,800 MW.
PWP, the sole procurer of new power and water capacity in Oman, stated that the consultancy scope will support the development of the proposed gas-fired IPPs in line with the country’s electricity sector expansion plans and long-term energy requirements.
The tender purchase period will run from 13 May 2026 to 20 May 2026, while bid submissions are scheduled to close on 17 June 2026 at 12:00 PM Oman time.
The new gas-fired IPP program reflects Oman’s continued investment in power infrastructure to support growing electricity demand, industrial development, and energy security across the Sultanate.
