Saudi’s NADEC will build 30MW Solar project

Saudi Arabia’s, National Agricultural Development Co.’s (NADEC) board of directors has approved a solar power purchase agreement (PPA) with French based energy developer, ENGIE, the company said in a statement.

The expected output of the project will be 30MW. NADEC will purchase the power from ENGIE under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA).

The project location is in NADEC City, Haradh area, eastern region of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

NADEC will purchase energy from ENGIE at a fixed price of SAR 0.9 per kilowatts per hour.

Project Construction is expected to start during fourth quarter of 2019.

Commercial operations of the project is expected during the fourth quarter of 2020 with an operational trial period of 60 days. 

The project is expected to reduce NADEC’s fuel consumption to 124,000 barrels per year, which will help reduce carbon emissions by 53 million kilograms annually
