Siemens Secured 400kV Substation project of value $94 million in Kuwait

German firm, Siemens Signed a contract for the project, “construction of BBYN “Z” 400kV (400/132/11kV) Substation” in Kuwait.

The project has been awarded by Ministry of Electricity of Water (MEW), Kuwait.

Earlier, during March 2019, a total of four (4) bidders has submitted the proposal. After techno-commercail, evaluation, the project has been awarded to Siemens.

The value of the contract is Kuwaiti Dinars 28,769,291 (1$=0.3047 Kuwaiti Dinar)

BBYN “Z” 400kV (400/132/11kV) Substation:

Project Main Scope of Work includes the following equipment:

  • 400kV Gas Insulated Switchgear – 18 bays
  • 300MVA, 400/132/33kV Power Transformers – 4 nos.
  • 132kV Gas Insulated Switchgear – 34 bays
  • 33kV, 45MVAR Shunt Reactors – 4 nos.
  • 30MVA, 132/11kV Power Transformers – 4 nos.
  • 400kV, 2500 Sq.mm Cable – 7200m

Apart from above major equipment, there is a MV Switchgears, cables, Auxiliaries, Civil and Electro- Mechanical works

Contractor need to complete the work within 30 months,

The contractor shall perform the project on lumpsum turnkey basis, includes the design, engineering, material procurement, quality management, factory inspection/testing, transport and delivery to site, construction, site inspection, testing and commissioning, and all associated work and services until final handing over of the project.
