Kuwait invites bid for 132kV Shuwaikh Substation

Ministry of Electricity & Water (MEW), Kuwait invites bid for the Replacement of 132kV circuit breakers and their accessories at Shuwaikh substation related to Shuwaikh Power and Water Desalination Station.

Tender notification states that, 132/33/0.415kV Shuwaikh Substation is a vital substation. Apart from supplying the needed power to the desalination and power plants it is also considered an important linking substation with the Kuwait National Grid.

The new substation shall be completely equippmed in a new building with protection, metering, registering, control and monitoring devices to serve as replacement of the exisitng substation by a modern system of the latest technologies.

Major scope of work includes the following:

  • 24 bays of 132kV GIS
  • 110V DC system
  • LV Switchboards
  • Civil Works
  • Eelctro Mechanical Works
  • 2MVA, 11.5/0.415kV Auxiliary Transformers
  • 15kV Switchgears
  • New Protection/control panels
  • Cabling and terminations
  • Demolition works

The Contractor shall perform on Lump sum turnkey basis, the design, engineering, materials procurement, quality management, factory inspection/testing, transport and delivery to site, installation, construction, site inspection, testing and commissioning, all associated work and services until final handing over of new substation work in a satisfactorily working and operating condition.

Contractor needs to handover the substation in three years.

At present bid submission date is 13 April 2021.
