Bahrain awarded a contract of $222 million for exhibition Centre

Bahrain’s Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning (Works Affairs) signed a contract to construct exhibition and Convention centre in Sakhir, Bahrain.

The project has been awarded to Bahrain based construction company, Cebarco Bahrain.

The value of signed contract is BD83.6 million.

Earlier, during May 2019, Ministry received proposals from eight contractors. Upon technical and commercial evalution, the project has been awarded to contractor.

The project location will be next to the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir.

The contract for the new Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre was signed by Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf and Industry, Commerce and Tourism Minister Zayed bin Rashid Al-Zayani with Cebarco Bahrain Chairman Khalid Abdulrahim.

The new exhibition and convention centre will be built on 308,000-sq-m  with a plot area of  1.3-million-sq-m.

Once the project constructed, it will be five times bigger than the current exhibition centre in Sanabis, the minister said, adding that the project will be the largest of its kind in the region.

The centre will have an external gate, rooms for guards and control, and parking lots that can accommodate up to 1,600 vehicles. The parking lots of the sports city will also be used as additional parking facilities.

The facility will also include a 4,500-sq-m conference hall which will be divided into three separate hi-tech rooms, in addition to 27 small and medium conference and meeting rooms with a total area of about 1,700 sq m, as well as two majlises for VIPs.

The project will be expected to completed by second quarter of 2022.

The new centre will include 10 exhibition halls with a total area of 95,000 sq m, along with all the necessary services, in addition to areas dedicated for retail and events.

German firm Tilke Engineers and Architects has been appointed by Ministry to provide consultancy services. The contract was signed during November 2017.
