Oman Awarded $429 million of Road Projects

Ministry of Transport , Oman awarded the projects for Construction of road works related to Rusayl-Bidbid carriageway and Batinah Expressway.

The total value of the two signed projects is Omani Riyal (OMR) 165 million (1 OMR = 2.60078 USD).

Projects scope of Work involves addition of a third and a fourth lane to Rusayl-Bidbid carriageway and the other for constructing Batinah Expressway link project.

Rusayl-Bidbid Carriageway:

The agreement deals with construction works related to the addition of two new lanes on Rusayl-Bidbid carriageway from Muscat Expressway interchange to A’Sharqiyah Expressway interchange.

The road works covering a distance of 27 kilometers.

The project cost is OMR 86,284,020 and it will be executed in 30 months.

Batinah Road Works:

It comes as part of the seventh batch of Batinah Expressway project. The project scope of works includes the construction of road links and flyovers at main roundabouts of the existing Batinah road.

The works also include the construction of a road connecting Khazaen Business Zone to Batinah Expressway, a stretch of 14 kilometres.

The Project cost is OMR 78,970,735 and it will be executed in 36 months.


The two agreements were signed by Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Futaisi, Minister of Transport, and representatives of the two executing companies: Hans Erlings, CEO of Galfar Engineering and Contracting Company and Rajesh Gopalakrishnan, Roads Manager at Ghantoot Transport and Contracting.
