Oman issued RFP for Manah Solar IPP

Oman Power and Water Procurement Company SAOC (OPWP), a member of Nama Group, issued the tender for the development of the second phase of OPWP’s renewables program, Manah I and Manh II Solar IPP.

The projects will be located adjacent to each other at a site in Manah, approximately 150 km from capital city of Oman, Muscat.

Each project will have a generation capacity between 500 MW to 600 MW. OPWP annouced that each project will be awarded to a separate developer.

The two projects will be built, owned and operated by the private sector and the scope of the projects includes financing, procurement, engineering, construction, operation and maintenance.

The announcement of Manah Solar IPP follows the successful tendering of OPWP’s first utility scale solar IPP (Ibri II Solar project of capacity 500 MW), which was awarded in April 2019 with targeted commercial operation date of June 2021.

OPWP set the target of commercial operation of the two solar plant by fourth quarter of 2022. The project will be constructed in 1200HA of area.

Once the projects commissioned, it is expected that the CO2 offset will be 680,000 tons/annum.

OPWP is advised by Synergy Consulting (financial adviser), DLA Piper (legal advisory) and Fichtner (technical advisory).

At present bid submission date is 07 December 2020.

Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC) already awarded the 400kV Grid station to the contractor to evacuate the upcoming generated power. (read more)
