Contractors appointed for 380kV Substation and OHTL of Yanbu 4 IWP

The main EPC, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction awards the Construction of 380kV Substation and 380kV Overhead Transmission line related to Yanbu 4 IWP (Independent Water Producer) project.

Construction of 380kV Substation has been awarded to General Electric (GE) whereas the 380kV Overhead Transmission line (OHTL) has been awarded to National Power Construction Corporation (NPCC).

380kV Substation

Project Scope of Work includes 380 kV GIS having breaker and half configuration,  380 kV, 120 MVAR bus connected reactor, 60MVAR Line connected Reactor along with its required Hybrid GIS.

380/110kV 502 MVA auto-transformer, 110kV GIS, AC/DC LV auxiliary supply, protection control SCADA & telecommunication, civil electromechanical works as well as modification works at remote stations is part of the project.

380kV OHTL

The project involves the construction of two (2) 380kV OHTL between Yanbu 4 Substation to source substation of approximate length 21kms long.

Yanbu-4 IWP will have a plant capacity of 450,000 m3/day. The project is located near the town of Ar Rayyis (140 km west of Madina), Yanbu region, on the Red Sea coast of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The project was executing by the developer consortium comprising of France’s Engie and Saudi Arabia’s NESMA and Mowah Company.

Once project commissioned, it will feed Makkah and Madinah regions with potable water. The Project will include two days storage tanks as well as solar power to reduce the power consumption from the network.
