NCC Confirms $120m 500kV OHTL Contract in Saudi Arabia

National Contracting Company Ltd (NCC), Saudi Arabia awarded the new “500KV HVDC overhead transmission line (OHTL) between proposed Aqaba Gulf Transition Station to proposed Tabuk Converter Station”  project in Saudi Arabia.

The value of signed contract is SAR 450.2 million (USD 120 million)

The Project was awarded by Saudi Electricity Company.

Project Scope of Works includes Construction of One (1) 500kV HVDC OHTL for 227.79km long with 4x2515kcmil ACSR/AW ‘Joree’ Conductor per phase for pole and 2x1590kcmil ACSR/AW ‘Falcon’ Conductor for DMR on lattice steel tower to establish connection between proposed Aqaba Gulf Transition Station to proposed Tabuk Converter Station.

Design, engineering, materials procurement, quality management, factory inspection/testing, transport and delivery to site, installation, construction, site inspection, testing and commissioning, all associated work and services until final handing over of new OHTL work in a satisfactorily working and operating condition will be part of the contract.

The duration of the contract is 30 months.

The Project is part of 500kV OHTL that will be interconnect Saudi Arabia and Egypt, which aims to exchange of 3,000 megawatts, with a 500 kV HVDC technology. (read more)
