Saipem awarded $28m drilling contract with SNOC in Sharjah, UAE

Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC), UAE announces in a statement that it has awards a new drilling contract.

The contract was awarded to Saipem. The value of the contract is USD 28 millions.

The project involves mobilization of Saipem’s 3,000HP drilling rig “5864” to Sharjah and the drilling of 3 firm development and exploration wells.

Mobilization has commenced and the first well is scheduled to be spudded at the end of 2021/early 2022. All three wells are located onshore Sharjah and will be drilled back to back.

As part of rig mobilization, the required rig upgrades and certification shall be carried out.  The  works includes all materials, personnel and services related to the rig.

Saipem has a consolidated presence in the United Arab Emirates, in particular in the Emirates of Sharjah and Abu Dhabi, where its well-established presence dates to 1970s.
