China Energy awarded 500MW Solar PV Project in Egypt

China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) announced in a statement that, the joint venture formed by Energy China, its affiliated international group, Zhejiang Thermal Power successfully signed the EPC+O&M project for the 500MW photovoltaic plant in Kom Ombo, Egypt.

The project is located about 600 km south of Cairo in Aswan Governorate, Egypt.

The owner of the project is Abydos Solar Power Company (ASPC), a subsidiary of AMEA POWER. Earlier, AMEA announces the financial close of the project.

It is planned to start construction in the first quarter of 2023, and the overall construction period is 19 months.

The project scope includes the design, procurement, construction, operation and maintenance of photovoltaic power plant.

This project is currently the largest single photovoltaic project in Egypt and even Africa. After completion, it will effectively increase the proportion of new energy power generation in Egypt, optimize the local power supply structure, reduce dependence on gas energy, and promote low-carbon, green and sustainable local social economy.
