Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) has announced the launch of a major tender for the expansion of the country’s power transmission system for 2026, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to strengthening national infrastructure and meeting growing electricity demand.
The Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract covers the development of new substations across multiple voltage levels, including 400/132/11kV, 132/11kV, and 66/11kV facilities, along with the installation of 400kV extra-high voltage (EHV) power cables. The project forms a key part of KAHRAMAA’s broader network expansion strategy aimed at enhancing reliability, capacity, and operational efficiency.
To ensure efficient execution, the project has been divided into several packages:
- Substations Package S1 & S2: Construction of new 132/11kV substations
- Package S3: Construction of new 66/11kV substations
- Package S4: Development of a new 400/220/132kV substation, along with upgrades and modifications to existing 400kV and 220kV substations
- Package S5: Construction of new 132/11kV substations and upgrades to existing 132kV and 66kV substations
- Cables Package C1 & C2: Installation of 400kV power cables
Interested and qualified contractors are invited to participate in the bidding process. The current deadline for bid submission is set for 14 May 2026.
This initiative underscores KAHRAMAA’s continued investment in expanding Qatar’s power transmission infrastructure to support economic growth and future development plans.
