UAE’s AMEA Power announces the groundbreaking of 150 MW / 300 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Uzbekistan.

The ceremony was attended by Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister, H.E. Jamshid Khodjayev; Minister of Energy, H.E. Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov; UAE Ambassador to Uzbekistan, H.E. Saeed Matar Sultan Alsiri Alqemzi; and Chairman of AMEA Power, Hussain Al Nowais, alongside other senior government officials and stakeholders.

Located in the Mirzo-Ulugbek district of Tashkent city, the project will strengthen grid stability, support the integration of renewable energy, and reduce reliance on fossil fuel-based peak generation.

Designed for two-hours of energy storage, the facility will deliver up to 10,950 equivalent cycles over its 15 years of operation, contributing to long-term energy reliability and resilience in Uzbekistan.

Beyond infrastructure, the project will also create employment opportunities during construction and support the continued development of Uzbekistan’s sustainable energy sector, statement mentioned.
