Al Mashariq Secured a deal of $66 million for Bahrain’s Substation Project

Bahrain’s Electricity & Water Authority (EWA) awarded the project “220kV Substation package”, which is part of 220kV & 66kV Transmission development (2012-2016), Phase-2.

The project has been awarded to Saudi based Construction Company “Al Mashariq Trading & Contracting Company”.

The value of signed contract is BHD 24.89 million (1$=0.376 BHD).

Earlier, during March 2019, EWA announces the bid results of the project. A total of eight (8) EPC companies participated in the project.

Project Description:

Scope of Work includes Design, supply, installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance of Two (2), 220/66/21/11kV Bulk Supply Point substations on lump sum turnkey basis.

The location of Substations is in East Hidd and Al Ramli.

Scope include 220kV Switchgear, Power Transformers, Reactors, MV Switchgear, Water Deluge System, Control and Protection systems, Telecommunication systems, HV cable between switchgear and transformers/reactors, Auxiliary Power Supply system, Substation Civil Works and Associated Building Services.

Contractor need to complete the project activities in 16 months.

The two projects are funding by Saudi Fund for Development.

Background:

Earlier, during 2017 EWA issued a tender to construct two (2) new 220 kV substation, associated 220 kV cable feeders, fourteen (14) new 66 kV substations and associated 66 kV cable feeders.

The new projects will provide electricity to a number of nationally important strategic housing projects.

This development by EWA is known as “220 kV & 66 kV Transmission Development (2012-2016) – Phase 2”
