Projects awarded during December 2019

Following are the major projects awarded during the month of December 2019 across gulf countries:

The Red Sea Development Company awards contract for Concrete Supply

Saudi Arabia’s The Red Sea Development Company (TRSDC), has awarded a contract for Supply of Concrete. The project has been awarded to Saudi based Company, AlFalah Ready Mix.

As per the contract, AlFalah Ready Mix will supply the structural low-carbon concrete manufactured utilizing recycled raw materials to meet existing and upcoming project demand while adhering to its environmental sustainability goals. (read more)

Bahrain awarded a contract of $690 million for construction of East Sitra housing project

Bahrain’s Ministry of Housing signed a contract for construction of housing project at East Sitra City. The project has been awarded to China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC).

The value of signed contract is BHD 259,727,811.437 (1 BHD = 2.65957 USD).

The East Sitra city will provide 3,000 housing units. The general plan for East Sitra includes all the facilities and services that serve the residents of the city, such as health, educational and commercial facilities, places of worship, commercial centers, fuel stations, police stations and coast guard, youth centers and elderly care, parks and public parks. Hyundai secures a contract of $28.8 million for Najran 380kV Substation expansion

Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) awarded the project “Expansion of Najran University 380kV Substation”

The Project location is in Najran, Southern region of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The project has been awarded to South Korean based construction company, Hyundai Engineering & Construction. The value of signed contract is SAR 108 million. (read more)

China Gezhouba group and SIDEM named as EPC for Umm Al Quwain IWP

The Developer of Umm Al Quwain IWP, ACWA Power selected the EPC contractor for 150 million imperial gallons a day (682,000 m³/day) of desalinated water plant.

The EPC contract has been awarded to the consrotium of China Gezhouba Group Company Ltd. (CGGC) and French company SIDEM. (read more)



AlSharif Group secures an order of $98 million for 380kV Transmission line project

Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) awarded the project “Construction of 380kV Double Circuit Transmission line between Najran University Substation and Al Faraa Substation ”

The project has been awarded to Saudi based construction company, AlSharif Group for Contracting and Development (ASG).(read more)

Bahri secures an order of $202.6 million for the floating desalination project

Saudi Arabia based logistics and transportation firm, Bahri issued a statement that the company has signed a 20year agreement to transport desalinated water from the floating stations to desalination tanks.

The project has been awarded by Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), a Saudi Government Corporation responsible for the desalination of seawater, producing electric power, and supplying various regions in the Kingdom with desalinated water.(read more)

Etihad Rail awards $1.25 billion contract for Package D

Etihad Rail has awarded the project package D civil and construction works contract for stage 2 of the UAE’s national railway.

The project has been awarded to joint venture of China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) and the UAE’s National Projects & Construction (NPC).(read more)

DP World Awarded B.O.T Contract related to Jeddah Islamic Port

 UAE’s DP World has been awarded a 30-year Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) concession for the management and development of the Jeddah South Container Terminal at the multi-purpose Jeddah Islamic Port. The project has been awarded by the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani). (read more)

UAE’s Azizi Developments Awards $13.6 million Contract to Prestige Constructions for Berton in Al Furjan

UAE’s Azizi Developments, has awarded a contract for the construction of Berton in Al Furjan. The project has been awarded to UAE based construction company, Prestige Constructions. The value of signed contract is AED 50 million.(read more)

Oman’s Galfar wins $75m contract for steel pellet plant

Oman’s Galfar Engineering and Contracting announced in a statement that, it has secured an order for a electro-mechanical erection contract for a steel pellet plant in Sohar. The value of signed contract is OMR28.9 million.

Alfanar secures a contract of $8.3 million for 380kV Reactors projects in Riyadh

Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) awarded the project “Installation of 380kV, 120MVAR Bus Reactors at Khasm Al-Aan (9017) BSP, Industrial Area (9027) BSP and Modification Of PP12 Connections by Swapping of Cables”

The substation and power plant locations are across the Riyadh area. The project has been awarded to Saudi based construction company, Alfanar Construction. (read more)

Bilfinger secures 3-year blanket deal with Abu Dhabi Transco

Global engineering and industrial services provider Bilfinger announced in a statement that, it has signed a three-year blanket agreement with Abu Dhabi Transmission & Dispatch Company (Transco) for maintenance of sodium hypochlorite plants at its pumping stations across the UAE.

The multimillion-dollar contract, secured by Bilfinger’s Middle East division till 2022, involves routine maintenance, equipment repair, replacement and new equipment installation of sodium hypochlorite plants, which includes generation system and dosing system from process water inlet up to injection points across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Northern and Western Region.

Chapo group secures an order of $160 million for Al Madina Al Shamaliya housing project

Bahrain’s Ministry of Housing (MOH) awarded the project “Construction of Housing units at Al Madina Al Shamaliya island 11, plot 17 and 18”. The project scope of work involves the construction and maintenance of 720 housing units at Madinat Salman (known as Northern Town) of the northen coast of Bahrain. (read more)

NCC awarded an order of $87.2 million for Saudi Arabia’s 380kV Transmission line between Layla and Al Kharj

Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) awarded the project “Construction of 380kV & 132kV Overhead Transmission line interconnection of Layla 9049 BSP”

The interconnection of the project is between Layla & Al Kharj area, central region of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The project has been awarded to Saudi based construction company, National Contracting Company (NCC), a subsidiary of Rezayat Group. (read more)

Abu Dhabi’s Jubail Island Investment Company awards $22 million infrastructure works contract

UAE’s Jubail Island Investment Company (JIIC) has awarded a contract for the infrastructure works of Jubail Island. The project has been awarded to UAE based construction company, Gulf Contractors Company(GCC).

The value of the signed contract is approximately AED 80 million. (read more)

Petrofac secures an order of US$130 million from Oman’s PDO

UK based Oil & Gas firm, Petrofac announced in a statement that, a new contract has been signed with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO).

The new contract is an additional scope of work with Petrofac’s existing ongoing projects with PDO. The combined value of the project is approximately US$130 million. (read more)

SEPCOIII signs the EPC contract of Saudi Arabia’s PP13 Power Plant, remaining works

Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) awarded the remaining works at Power Plant 13. The project has been awarded to China based construction company, SEPCO III.

The overall plant capacity will be 1800MW. Initially, the project was awarded to Turkish contractor, Gama Power System

SEPCO III already executed the contract to build the 1,755MW PP14 power plant in Riyadh.

Hill Internation wins consultancy contract from Abu Dhabi’s Aldar

US based consulting firm, Hill International announces in a statement that, it has secured a consultancy contract from Abu Dhabi based real estate developer Aldar Properties.

As per the contract, Hill International will provide advisory and supervisory services for its Al Reeman Phase 1 and 2 developments in the UAE.

The Al Reeman Phase 1 and 2 master plan covers 1,709 villas plots, a clinic, a community school, an early learning center, a community police point, and three community retail plots.

Saudi Electricity Company awards $2.5 billion smart meters project

Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) awarded the project “Install and commissioning of 10 million smart meters” for consumers across the Kingdom. The total value of the signed contract is SAR 9,555,099,334. (read more)

Mott MacDonald secures an order of $40.8 million for Dubai’s chemical Plant

AquaChemie Middle East awarded a project for design, engineering, and project management services of Chemical plant at Jebel Ali Port.

The project has been awarded to UK based consulting firm, Mott MacDonald. The value of contract is $40.8 million.

The chemical terminal will comprise bulk storage tanks for liquid hydrocarbons, with a total capacity of approximately 30,000m3 day tanks, chemical processing units, automated drumming lines, tanker loading-unloading gantry with top loading arms, covered warehousing for storage of NFPA class 1B and C chemicals, separate dry goods storage area, in addition to pump house and main hose exchange station, separate road tanker entrance with weigh bridge, loading and unloading ramp for forklift operation, office block with control room, dedicated road tankers and large trailer truck fleet, and a fully-equipped firefighting unit.

L&T Construction wins 132kV substation in UAE

India based Construction firm, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced in a statement that, it has secured a contract from a government entity in the UAE to build 132kV Substation.

The project scope of work also invloces installation of 132kV cabling works. L&T will perform the project on lumpsum turnkey basis, includes the design, engineering, material procurement, quality management, factory inspection/testing, transport and delivery to site, construction, site inspection, testing and commissioning, and all associated work and services until final handing over of the project.
