Kuwait receives the lowest bid of $405 million for maintenance of 400/300/132kV Substations

Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity of Water (MEW) announces the bid results for the project “Maintenance & Repair Works at 400/300/132kV Substations”.

A total of eight bidders has submitted the proposals. Kuwait based Construction Company, United Gulf Enterprises General Trading & Contracting. Co. W.L.L (UGETCO) has submitted the lowest bid.

The UGETCO Company has submitted the price of KWD 123,108,674.500 (1 KWD = 3.29297 USD).

Maintenance of 400/300/132kV Substations:

Earlier, During September 2019, the Ministry invited a total of nine qualified Contractor to submit their proposals to undertake the execution of the maintenance and repair works at various 400kV, 300kV, 132kV Substations.

Project scope of work involves maintenance and repair of following major equipment and its associated equipment:

  • 400kV, 300kV, 132kV, 33kV, 11kV, 20kV and 6.6kV Switchgears
  • Power Transformers (having voltage rating 400/300/33kV, 400/132/33kV, 300/132/33kV, 132/33kV, 132/11kV and 33/11kV)
  • Shunt Reactors with voltage levels 300kV, 132kV, 33kV
  • Protection and control panels
  • Low Voltage Switchboards
  • Maintenance of disturbance recorders

Preventive maintenance of all the equipment will be carried out as per manufacturer’s recommendation. Supply of various spare parts also part of the contract.

The contractor need to provide training to MEW staff during the course of Contract.

The period of the contract will be 60 months starting from signing the contract.
