Alfanar awarded $44 million 380kV Substation expansion project

Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) awarded the project “expansion of 380kV Substation at Madain, Umluj and Yanbu”.

The Project has been awarded to Saudi based construction firm, Alfanar Construction.

The value of signed contract is SAR 165,744,000 (USD 44,198,400)

Earlier, during July 2020, five bidders has submitted the proposals. (read more)

The project locations are in western region of Saudi Arabia. The tender was originally released by SEC during June 2020 (read more)

At Madain 380kV Substation, project scope of work includes 380kV Hybrid Gas Insulated Switchgear, 380kV, 80MVAr line reactors. Addition/modifications of protection, control and Telecommunication will part of the project.

At Umluj 380kV Substation, project scope of work includes 380kV GIS expansion, 380kV Hybrid Gas Insulated Switchgear, 380kV, 80MVAr, 60MVAr reactors. Addition/modifications of protection, control and Telecommunication will part of the project.

For Yanbu 380kV Substation, project scope of work includes 380kV Hybrid Gas Insulated Switchgear, 380kV, 60MVAr line reactors. Addition/modifications of protection, control and Telecommunication will part of the project.

The Contractor shall perform on Lump sum turnkey basis, the design, engineering, materials procurement, quality management, factory inspection/testing, transport and delivery to site, installation, construction, site inspection, testing and commissioning, all associated work and services until final handing over of substation work in a satisfactorily working and operating condition.

Contractor needs to achieve the final acceptance of the works by 23 months from Contract Signing Date.
