Saudi Arabia Announces Financial Close of $880m Yanbu 4 IWP

Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) announced in a statement that it has successfully achieved the Financial Close for Yanbu-4 IWP.

The total cost of the Project is around 3.3 billion Saudi Riyals (USD 880 million).

Earlier, during February 2020, SWPC signed the project agreement with the successful consortium of the project consists of International Power S.A. (Engie), Mowah Co. CJSC and Nesma Company Limited. (read more)

Yanbu-4 is a reverse osmosis Independent Water Plant with capacity of 450,000 cubic meters per day along with its Water Special Facilities “WSF” (Yanbu-Rayis water transmission pipeline with length of 39 km and capacity of 600 thousand cubic meters per day) that will be located at Al-Rayis in Badr Government within Madinah Region.

The Yanbu-Rayis pipeline is the first water transmission line to be implemented by the Public-Private Partnership.

The Project will be built and operated by the private sector for a period of 25 years from the Commercial Operation Date, while the WSF will be transferred after construction to the Saline Water Conversion Corporation.

Once project commissioned, it will feed Makkah and Madinah regions with potable water. The Project will include two days storage tanks as well as solar power to reduce the power consumption from the network.

The Commercial operation of the project is in fourth quarter of 2023.

Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction is the EPC contractor of the project. (read more)
