Hyundai Confirms $167m 500kV OHTL Contract in Saudi Arabia

Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co.,Ltd, South Korea announced in a statement that it has awarded the new “500KV HVDC overhead transmission line (OHTL) Midpoint between Madinah and Tabuk up to Madinah Portion III”  project in Saudi Arabia.

The value of signed contract is USD 167 million.

The Project was awarded by Saudi Electricity Company.

The 500kV OHTL will go through Medina and Tabuk on route to the Gulf of Aqaba.

Scope of Works includes the design, engineering, materials procurement, quality management, factory inspection/testing, transport and delivery to site, installation, construction, site inspection, testing and commissioning, all associated work and services until final handing over of new OHTL work in a satisfactorily working and operating condition.

The duration of the contract is 30 months.

The Project is part of 500kV OHTL that will be interconnect Saudi Arabia and Egypt, which aims to exchange of 3,000 megawatts, with a 500 kV HVDC technology. (read more)
