8 firms Pre Qualified for Rabigh 4 independent water project

Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC)  announced the list of Pre Qualified firms to bid for the Rabigh 4 Independent Water Project (IWP).

Rabigh 4 IWP will be designed using Reverse Osmosis seawater desalination technology.

The desalination plant will be located in Rabigh , 180 km northwest of Makkah, on the coast of the Red Sea in the Western Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Project will be constructed with a 600,000 m3/day potable water capacity and will include the desalination plant and all associated infrastructure and facilities.

As per the announcement, following companies/consortia are pre-qualified:

  • Acciona Agua and Ajlan & Bros Energy Company Consortium
  • ACWA Power
  • Cobra Instalaciones Y Servicios, S.A
  • Kahrabel FZE (a subsidiary of Engie)
  • Marafiq and Alfanar Company Consortium
  • Marubeni Corporation
  • Utico FZC, Mowah Co. CJSC, and CRCCI Consortium
  • Veolia Middle East

Power supply for the project will be facilitated from Saudi Electricity Company’s high voltage network

The developer scope of work includes, development, financing, procurement, implementation, operation and maintenance of the Project.

SWPC will purchase the output and entire capacity of the project, under a Water Purchase Agreement (WPA) for a period of 25 years.

SWPC’s obligations under the WPA will be supported by a credit support agreement from the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

SWPC is advised by KPMG Professional Services (Lead and Financial Adviser), Eversheds Sutherland (International) LLP (Legal Adviser) and WSP (Technical Adviser).

SWPC already awarded the following IWPs:

  • Rabigh-3 IWP having plant capacity 600,000 Cu.m per day to ACWA Power Consortium (read more)
  • Shuqaiq-3 IWP having plant capacity 450,000 Cu.m per day to Marubeni Consortium (read more)
  • Yanbu-4 IWP having plant capacity 450,000 Cu.m per day is awarded to Engie Consortium. (read more)
  • Jubail-3A IWP having plant capacity 600,000 Cu.m per day to ACWA Power Consortium (read more)
  • Jubail-3B IWP having plant capacity 570,000 Cu.m per day to Engie Consortium (read more)
