Bahrain receives Metro Pre qualification Phase one

The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunication (MTT), Bahrain proposes to develop an efficient public transport service by the introducing a state-of the art Metro System which is fully automated, driverless and with modern technology following international standards.

MTT plans to develop a 109km long Metro System in 4 phases.

Bahrain Metro Phase One Project is comprising of two lines with a total length of 29 kilometers and 20 stations.

Earlier, MTT announced that it is looking to procure the project as an integrated PPP to be procured through a two stage process comprising of Pre Qualification followed by the main tender.

In the first stage, MTT intends to prequalify suitably experienced and qualified companies with relevant expertise to design, build, finance, operate, maintain and transfer the project.

MTT receives the Pre Qualification from the below Bidders:

  • China Railway Group Limited
  • ORASCOM CONSTRUCTION
  • ALSTOM TRANSPORT SA
  • Taqi Mohammed Albahrana Trading Est.
  • Hyundai Engineering & Construction
  • ARADOUS ENERGY GENERATIONS CO.
  • LARSEN & TOUBRO LIMITED
  • VIRTUE GLOBAL HOLDING LIMITED
  • PLENARY ASIA PTE LTD
  • CRRC (HONG KONG) CO. LIMITED

Pre Qualified Applicants will be invited to participate in the next stage.
