Al-Babtain Contracting Company secures an order of $15.14 million for 115kV Underground Cable Project

Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) awarded the project “Power Supply to Khafji Joint Operations 115/13.8kV Substation- Underground Cable Portion”

The project location is in Khafji, eastern Region of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The project has been awarded to Saudi based construction company, Al-Babtain Contracting Company.

The value of the signed contract is SAR 56,800,000 (1$=3.75 SAR).

Earlier, during April 20109, a total of eighteen bidders has submitted the proposals. After technical, commercial evaluations, the project has been awarded.

Recently, SEC awarded the substation Portion of the project to another Contractor.

Project Description:

The new project will serve the load demand of Khafji Joint Operation (KJO) facilities in eastern region.

The project scope of work includes Complete Design, supply, installation, testing & commissioning of two (2) 115kV underground cable circuit, consisting of Single Core 1200 Sq.mm , Copper conductor, super clean XLPE, lead alloy metallic sheath, cable per phase complete with all required link boxes, SVLs, other accessories and splices/terminations.

Approximate route length of 115kV Cable is 11.5km.

The project is funded by Khafji Joint Operations (KJO) and it will be supervised by Saudi Electricity Company (SEC).

The Contractor shall perform on Lump sum turnkey basis, the design, engineering, materials procurement, quality management, factory inspection/testing, transport and delivery to site, installation, construction, site inspection, testing and commissioning, all associated work and services until final handing over of the works in a satisfactorily working and operating condition.

Contractor needs to achieve the final acceptance of the works by 26 months from Contract Signing Date.
