Sterling & Wilson secures 25MW Qabas Solar PV Project in Oman

India’s engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) service provider, Sterling and Wilson awarded a contract to build 25MW Qabas solar PV plant in Oman.

The project has been awarded by Shell Oman.

Once the project constructed, it will be the oman’s first commercial-scale solar PV plant in Sohar Port and Freezone.

As per Shell Oman, Qabas Solar PV Plant has been launched with initial Capacity of 25 MW for development in Sohar Port. The output of which will be utilised by a major ferrochrome project in operation at the adjoining free zone.

Earlier during April 2019, Sohar port has allocated around 600 hectares of land within the free zone for renewable energy schemes of capacities ranging from 10 to 40 MW.

Output from these energy farms which will be served to various industries operating either with the free zone or the adjoining industrial port.

Earlier during November 2019, sterling & Wilson secures EPC contract of 1.09GW from Saudi Arabia.
