Bids for 70MW Solar PV Projects received by REPDO, Saudi Arabia

The Renewable Energy Project Development Office (REPDO) of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources (MEIM) has received the bidder’s proposals for category ‘A’ Solar PV Projects on 03 February 2020.

The Category ‘A’ projects consist of two projects of Total Capacity 70MW,  namely Madinah Solar PV IPP and Rafha Solar PV IPP.

  • Madinah Solar PV IPP with a capacity of 50 MW to be located in the Al Madinah Province, approximately 26 km from Madinah city
  • Rafha Solar PV IPP with a capacity of 20 MW to be located in the Northern Borders province, approximately 16 km away from Rafha city

A total of two firms has submitted the proposals:

Saudi Arabia’s REPDO is being advised by Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (DIFC Branch) – Lead and Financial Adviser, DLA Piper Middle East LLP – Legal Adviser and Fichtner GmbH & Co. KG– Technical Adviser for this project.

Proposals for Category ‘B’ Solar PV projects already received by REPDO for the total capacity of 1.4GW and are in technical-commercail evalaution stage.

REPDO recently, launched Round 3 of renewable energy program. It will comprises of four Solar PV projects with a combined generation capacity of 1,200 MW.
