Al Sharif Group awarded a contract of $11.3 million for Zarga-2 132/13.8 kV Substation

Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) awarded the project “Construction of Zarga-2 132/13.8 kV Substation”.

The project location is in Zarga, Southern Region of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The project has been awarded to Saudi based construction Company, Al Sharif Group for Contracting and Trading (ASG).

The value of Signed Contract is SAR 42,609,562.

Earlier, during November 2019, a total of ten bidders has submitted the proposals (read more).

After technical, commercial and local content evaluation, the project has been awarded to the contractor.

Project Description:

The project scope of work includes the following major material:

  • 13.8kV Switchgear
  • 750kVA, 13.8kV/400-230V Station Service Transformers
  • HV, MV Power Cables and Terminations
  • AC/DC Auxiliary Power Supply
  • Surge Arresters
  • Control/Protection System
  • Substation Automation System (SAS)
  • Communication System
  • Fire Detection/Alarm and Safety and Fire Protection System
  • Civil/Structural works and Mechanical works

Installation, testing & commissioning of 132kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), 50/67MVA, 132/13.8kV power transformers are included in Scope of Work. The material will be provided by SEC.

Additions/modifications of Protection, Control system at Jazan CPS-1 and Kudmi BSP 132kV Substations is also part of the contract.

Project scope of Work also includes Design and construction of new 132kV Double Circuit (D/C) Overhead Transmission Line (OHTL) for the power supply to the proposed new ZARGA-2 132kV Substation.

The proposed new 132kV OHTL shall be constructed between looping cut-off points of existing 132kV D/C OHTL between JIZAN CPS-2 and KUDMI BSP up to the designated take-off structures of ZARGA-2 132kV Substation.

The distance between the gantry and the looping points is approximately 337.96 meters long or total of approximately 675.92 meters long for the two parallel new 132kV D/C OHTL.

The Contractor shall perform on Lump sum turnkey basis, the design, engineering, materials procurement, quality management, factory inspection/testing, transport and delivery to site, installation, construction, site inspection, testing and commissioning, all associated work and services until final handing over of new substation work in a satisfactorily working and operating condition.

Contractor needs to achieve the final acceptance of the works by 26 months from Contract Signing Date.
