TRSDC receives bids for utilities package

Saudi Arabia’s The Red Sea Development Company (TRSDC) has received bids for the first phase of utilities package.

The project location is in western region of Saudi Arabia.

TRSDC received online proposals from the following two consortiums:

The scope of works includes following utilities:

  • Water desalination Plants (RO)
  • Power generation Plants
  • A Battery Energy Storage System
  • Sewage Treatment Plants
  • District Cooling Plants
  • Municipal Solid Waste Plant
  • Primary Networks
  • Infrastructure and facilities

The successful developer executes the project under the terms of, development, financing, design, engineering, procurement, manufacture, factory testing, transportation, construction, erection, installation, equipping, completion, testing, commissioning, insurance, ownership, operation, maintenance and transfer of each of the Project Systems.

Under a 25-year of agreement, The Red Sea Development Company will be the off taker of the project.

Under the first phase of the Red Sea development, which is due to be commissioned in 2022, power generation capacity will be required to service a peak demand of 197MW.

Power is planned to be generated for the first phase from photovoltaic (PV) solar, wind energy, energy storage batteries and biofuel emergency power.

For water production, two seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) plants will be developed with a capacity of 30,000 cubic metres a day. The demand will be split between potable water, 21,000 cm/d, and irrigation top-up, 9,000 cm/d.

The first phase of the development will include 14 luxury hotels offering 3,000 rooms across five islands and two inland locations. It will also include entertainment facilities, an airport, and the necessary supporting logistics.
