Projects awarded during August 2020 in Gulf Countries

Following are the major projects awarded during the month of August 2020 across gulf countries. The projects covers the Power, Water, Construction and Oil & Gas Sectors.

Siemens secured compressor contract for HUGRS project

German manufacturer, Siemens Energy announced in a statement the awarding of centrifugal compressor systems contract for Saudi Aramco’s Hawiyah Unaizah Gas Reservoir Storage (HUGRS) project.

Siemens Energy received the order from Samsung Engineering, who was awarded the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the entire project earlier this year. (read more)

UAE’s Arada awards $115 million construction contract for second phase of Sharjah megaproject

UAE’s Arada has awarded a major contract to build East Village, the second phase of Sharjah’s AED24 billion mixed-use district, Aljada.

The Value of signed contract is AED423 million. The full contract to build East Village was won by Best Building Contracting Company (BLDG CO – BEST – LLC). (read more)

Mastoura Company Secured Contract for Power Supply to Shedgum, Uthmaniya Gas oil separation plant

Saudi Electricity Company awarded the project for the Power Supply to Shedugum Gas Oil Separation Plant (GOSP)-4, Uthmaniya GOSP-9 and Uthmaniya GOSP-10.

The Project has been awarded to Saudi based construction company, Mastoura Contracting Company Limited. (read more)

Bechtel secured NEOM infrastructure development contract

Saudi Arabia’s NEOM announced in a statement that, it has awarded a contract to U.S.-based Bechtel for executive project management work on the development of the primary, base infrastructure.

As per the statement, NEOM selected Bechtel to oversee and create resource efficient utilities and a highly advanced transport system to connect NEOM’s cognitive cities. Work will include simultaneous construction in multiple locations requiring extraordinary engineering solutions in challenging terrain. (read more)

Al Moayyed – Aerolink secured $166 .8 million AMAS Island housing project

Ministry of Housing, Bahrain awarded the project for Construction of Housing units at Al Madina Al Shamaliya (AMAS) island.

The project has been awarded to the joint venture of Airolink Building Contracting L.L.C, (UAE) and Al Moayyed Contracting W.L.L (Bahrain). (read more)

Tatweer Petroleum W.L.L, Bahrain awarded the project for Provision of General Construction Services.

Bahrain awarded $45.7 million Water Transmission Facilities projects at East Hidd and South Bahrain

Bahrain’s Electricity & Water Authority (EWA) awarded the project for water transmission facilities for East Hidd and South Bahrain (Madinat Khalifa).

The project has been awarded to Saudi based construcion company, Faisal Co. for Electrical & Mechanical. The combimed value of two projects is BHD 17,203,363.(read more)

Saudi Arabia’s AlUla signs resort agreement with Accor

Saudi Arabia’s Royal Commission for AlUla announced in a statement that it is partnering with Europe’s biggest hotel group Accor to expand and operate a resort at Al-Ula tourism project in the Saudi Arabia’s northwestern region.

The project is located in the Ashar valley, 15 kilometers from the Kingdom’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hegra. (read more)

Bahrain awarded $73.4 million housing project at Qalali, Riffa

Bahrain’s Ministry of Housing (MOH) awarded the project for Construction of 417 Houses at Qalali and Riffa of Kingdom of Bahrain.

Kuwait awarded $510 million Jaber Al Ahmad residential city project

The Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW), Kuwait signed an agreement with consortia of local companies, for the development of Jaber Al Ahmad residential city.

Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning (Municipalities Affairs), Bahrain awarded the project “Hamad Town traditional market project”

Azelio, ALEC to setup 49MW renewable energy storage site in Abu Dhabi

Sweden’s Azelio, announced in a statement that, it has signed an agreement with UAE-based ALEC Energy to set up a renewable energy storage site at Masdar city in Abu Dhabi.

ALEC Energy is the award-winning solar business division of ALEC Engineering and Contracting, and a part of the Investment Corporation of Dubai. (read more)

Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) awarded the project for Rehabilitation of New Air Force (NAF) 110kV Substation in Jeddah.

Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) awarded the project “Installation of 380kV reactors at Madain Substation”. The Project location is in Al Ula, Northern region of Saudi Arabia.

The project has been awarded to Saudi based construction Company, National Contracting Company (NCC). The value of signed contract is SAR 25,720,000. (read more)

Bahrain’s Tatweer awarded $56 million contract for Oil & Gas Manpower Supply Services


Tatweer Petroleum W.L.L, Bahrain awarded the project – Provision for the Management of Manpower Supply Services.

Mitsubishi Hitachi secures Turbines contract for Fujairah F3 IPP

Japan’s Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Ltd. (MHPS), a part of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Group announced in a statement that it has secured an order for three gas turbine generators to be used in UAE’s Fujairah F3 Independent Power Project (IPP).

The F3 plant will have a generation capacity of 2,400MW, and will be located at the Fujairah power and water complex, 302 kilometres north of Abu Dhabi. (read more)

Saudi Arabia’s Sumou signed a contract of $80 million for Housing Project

Saudi Arabia’s Sumou Real Estate Company announced in a statement that, it has signed a secondary real estate development agreement for the development of area 2 of the Khayala housing Project. The Project is located in Al Hamdaniya, Jeddah, western region of Saudi Arabia.

The agreement was signed with National Housing Company (NHS).The value of the agreement is SAR 300 million. (read more)

Oman’s Al Hassan Secured $20 million Contract for Qarn Alam Power Plant works

Oman’s Al Hassan Engineering Co. S.A.O.G announced in a statement that, it has signed a letter of Award for the construction works related to Qarn Alam 5th unit Power Plant.
The agreement was signed with Petroleum Developemtn of Oman L.L.C (PDO).The values of signed contract is OMR 7,700,000. (read more)

Kuwait awarded $291 million road works contract

Ministry of Public Works, Kuwait awarded the project for construction, maintenance of road, bridges, water drainage and sewage system works at various locations of Kuwait.

The project has been awarded to the Joint Venture of Kuwait’s Combined Group Contracting Company (CGC) and China’s China First Highway Engineering Company (CFHEC). The value of contract is KWD 88,940,000. (read more)

Lulu Group to build $80 million Shopping mall project in Yanbu

Saudi Arabia’s Royal Commission in Yanbu, has signed an agreement with UAE based retailer LuLu Group to jointly develop a shopping mall project in the Yanbu City.

The value of the agreement is SAR 300 million. The project will be constructed on a total area of about 40,814 square meters in Al-Fahd neighborhood in Yanbu Al-Sinaiyah. (read more)

Oman’s first bitumen refinery contract of $408 million awarded

Oman’s Sohar Asphalt LLC awarded the Engineering, Procurement and construction (EPC) contract for bitumen refinery to be located at Sohar Industrial Port. The project is to be considered as, first of its kind in Oman.

The project has been awarded to China based Oil & Gas firm, Hualu Engineering Technology Company Limited.The value of signed contract is $408 million. (read more)

Airolink secured AED 1 billion Seven City JLT project

UAE’s developer Seven Tides has appointed the main building contractor, to complete the construction of its Seven City JLT development in Jumeirah Lake Towers, in Dubai.
The project has been awarded to UAE based construction firm, Airolink. The value of signed contract is over AED 1 billion. (read more)
