Alfanar awarded $11.3m Ibn Zahr 230kV Substation expansion

Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) awarded the project ”expansion of Ibn Zahr 230kV Substation” located in eastern region of Saudi Arabia.

The Project has been awarded to Saudi based construction firm, Alfanar Construction.

The value of the signed contract is SAR 42.4 million (USD 11.3 million).

Ibn Zahr Substation expansion’s Project scope of work includes 230kV Gas Insulated Switchgear expansion, Gas Insulated Busduct, surge arresters, associated 230kVcabling. Addition/modifications of protection, control and Telecommunication will part of the project.

230kV Overhead Transmission line of approximatre length 500m is included in the scope of work.

The Contractor shall perform on Lump sum turnkey basis, the design, engineering, materials procurement, quality management, factory inspection/testing, transport and delivery to site, installation, construction, site inspection, testing and commissioning, all associated work and services until final handing over of substation work in a satisfactorily working and operating condition.

Contractor needs to achieve the final acceptance of the works by 17 months from Contract Signing Date.
