Saudi Arabia’s REPDO announces prices of shortlisted bidders for 70MW Solar PV Projects

The Renewable Energy Project Development Office (REPDO) of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy has announced the prices of shortlisted bidders  for Round Two Category A Solar PV Projects.

Round Two Category A Projects is comprised of two Solar PV independent power producer (IPP) projects, totaling 70 MW, including Madinah PV IPP (50 MW) and Rafha PV IPP (20 MW).

The Request for Proposals (RFP) for Round 2 Category A projects was released on 01 August 2019.

A total of two bids was submitted on 03 February 2020 for each of the project.(read more)

Madinah Solar PV IPP (50MW)

  • Al Blagha Holding for Investments Company, Al Fanar Company, Desert Technologies Industries CJSC –  7.27533 Halala/kWh
  • First Solar International Middle East FZ-LLC, Mowah Co CJSC – 11.35 Halala/kWh

REPDO shortlisted the bidders Al Blagha Consortium and First Solar Consortium for Madianh Solar PV IPP.

Rafha Solar PV IPP (20MW)

  • Al Blagha Holding for Investments Company, Al Fanar Company, Desert Technologies Industries CJSC –  13.0772 Halala/kWh
  • First Solar International Middle East FZ-LLC, Mowah Co CJSC – 19.04 Halala/kWh

REPDO shortlisted the bidders Al Blagha Consortium and First Solar Consortium for Rafha Solar PV IPP.

Round Two Category A projects carry a minimum requirement of 17% local content as calculated by the mechanisms defined by the Local Content & Government Procurement Authority (LCGPA), which aims to increase the value-added contribution of products and services to the national economy.

Successful Bidders will enter into a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) as Offtaker.
