Al Osais secures the contract of $11.3 million for REPDO Solar PV substations expansion

Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) awarded the project “expansion of 132kV Substations to interconnect the Qurayyat and Rafha Solar PV plant to the network”.

The Project has been awarded to Saudi based construction company, Al Osais Contracting Company a subsidiary of Al Osais International Holding Company.

The value of signed contract is SAR 42,731,604 (USD 11,395,094).

Earlier, during April 2020, four bidders was submitted the proposals to SEC. (read more)

The Substation expansion is made to interconnect the proposed REPDO’s Renewal Energy (Solar) Power Plant at Qurayyat and Rafha Areas with network.

Qurayyat Solar PV IPP with a capacity of 200 MW to be located in the Al Jawf Province, approximately 15 km away from Qurayyat city.  REPDO already announces the bid results for Qurayyat Solar PV (read more).

Rafha Solar PV IPP with a capacity of 20 MW to be located in the Northern Borders province, approximately 16 km away from Rafha city. REPDO already announces the bid results for Rafha Solar PV (read more).

Qurayyat 132kV Substation expansion:

Project scope of work involves the expansion of existing 132kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) two bays, with associated protection, control and Substation Automation System modification.

Project scope of work also involves the construction of 132kV Overhead transmission line (OHTL) from the existing Qurayyat Substation to New Qurayyat PV Substation.

Rafha 132kV Substation expansion:

Project scope of work involves the expansion of existing 132kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) two bays, with associated protection, control and Substation Automation System modification.

Project scope of work also involves the installation of 132kV underground cable from the existing Rafha Substation to New Rafha PV Substation.

The Contractor shall perform on Lump sum turnkey basis, the design, engineering, materials procurement, quality management, factory inspection/testing, transport and delivery to site, installation, construction, site inspection, testing and commissioning, all associated work and services until final handing over of substation work in a satisfactorily working and operating condition.

Contractor needs to achieve the final acceptance of the works by 19 months from Contract Signing Date.
