Saudi Railway Company Invites Bids for GCC Railway Design Services Project

Saudi Railway Company has announced a public tender invitation for the design services package of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Railway project, marking another significant step toward regional rail connectivity across the Gulf.

The company, also known as SAR, is planning to expand the Kingdom’s railway infrastructure through the development of new railway links connecting Saudi Arabia with other GCC member states under the wider GCC Railway network initiative.

According to the tender announcement, the proposed project involves the provision of design services for the planned railway corridors that will strengthen transportation and logistics integration between Saudi Arabia and neighboring Gulf countries. The GCC Railway is considered one of the region’s most strategic infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing trade, mobility, and economic cooperation across the Gulf.

The project forms part of Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to develop advanced transport infrastructure and support regional connectivity in line with long-term economic diversification and logistics sector growth objectives.

SAR stated that interested companies and qualified consultants are invited to participate in the tendering process. The current deadline for bid submission has been set for 30 June 2026.

Once completed, the GCC Railway network is expected to improve freight movement and passenger transportation across the Gulf region while supporting cross-border economic activity and regional integration.
