SHARAKAT Wins Global “Public Water Agency of the Year 2025” Award

Saudi Water Partnerships Company (SHARAKAT) has achieved a new international recognition by winning the “Best Public Water Agency of the Year 2025” award, during the Global Water Awards presented by Global Water Intelligence (GWI). The award was announced during a ceremony held in Madrid, Spain. 

This recognition reaffirms SHARAKAT’s continued excellence, following its previous wins of the same award in 2019 and 2023. It reflects the company’s consistent institutional performance and its established position as a global leader in developing water infrastructure projects through public-private partnerships. 

SHARAKAT received the award in recognition of its role as an enabler of private sector participation and its contribution to advancing the water project ecosystem in the Kingdom. This includes strengthening public-private partnerships, enhancing operational efficiency, and promoting sustainability in line with global best practices. 

In a parallel achievement, the Shuaibah 3 Independent Water Plant Conversion Project won the Desalination Plant of the Year 2025 award at the same event. The project was recognized for representing a significant leap in the adoption of advanced desalination technologies, as the largest global project to convert desalination systems from multi-stage flash (MSF) to reverse osmosis (RO), in addition to being completed ahead of schedule. 

On this occasion, the CEO of SHARAKAT, Eng. Khaled Alqureshi, stated that this achievement reflects the qualitative milestones accomplished during 2025 across multiple fronts. He highlighted SHARAKAT’s success in signing new project agreements, achieving financial closes, and commissioning several strategic projects, reflecting the efficiency and effectiveness of the public-private partnership model and its role in enhancing the sustainability and operational efficiency of the water sector. 

Eng. Alqureshi emphasized that this achievement is attributed to the continuous support of the Kingdom’s leadership, as well as the guidance of H.E. the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Chairman of the Board of Directors, in addition to the strong collaboration with public and private sector partners, which contributes to enhancing water security and sustainability in the Saudi Arabia.
